Have you read "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman? There's some fantastic scenes set in The House in the Rock and a theory on the reason why roadside attractions exist.

American Gods is what sent me to the House the first time, 10 years ago. But I'm also a roadside attraction junkie anyways.

Sensory overload to be sure, I went there while pregnant and was extrememly happy to GET OUTSIDE again....but maybe that's just me....I look forward to the continuing posts from your trip.
